In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Manuel de Falla
In the Key of Falla
Plural Ensemble, one of Spain’s leading groups in the performance of contemporary music, presents a programme conceived around Manuel de Falla’s Concerto for Harpsichord, joining the tribute to the Cádiz-born composer. Under the direction of Fabián Panisello and with an internationally renowned soloist such as Mahan Esfahani— a harpsichordist deeply committed to contemporary creation for his instrument—this programme bridges past and present through Falla’s legacy. Alongside Boccherini’s celebrated evocation of 18th-century Madrid, the audience will hear works by Jesús Villa-Rojo and José María Sánchez-Verdú, as well as the world premiere of Con certo in certo by the Sevillian composer Alberto Carretero, a work specially commissioned by the Festival for this occasion and in direct dialogue with Falla.
