Jose Luis Turina. Chamber Music
“The Verso label dedicates its second compact disc to the figure of José Luis Turina (1952). Although the first one was entitled Portrait, its content probably did not complete the picture of the composer’s personality; that is why we now offer an essential recording made up of significant chamber pieces in which we can see the fruit of a close relationship with performers who know and know how to transmit the keys of the composer’s style in order to establish a communication with the listener.
Turina is part of a generation of musicians whose training included both the scholastic teachings and the modernity of the avant-garde coming from Darmstadt, but also the example of alternative and anti-academic musical manifestations. His not at all precocious incorporation into the world of creation allowed him to escape the rigor of serialism and to feel more free, without considering himself tied to any aesthetic line, to integrate apparently irreconcilable influences and to focus his interest on embracing diverse materials, both classical and characteristic of the avant-garde”.
