Duncan Gifford
The Australian pianist Duncan Gifford is one of the most relevant pianists of his generation, obtaining his greatest international success in 1998 with the First Grand Prize at the prestigious International Competition "José Iturbi" in Spain, and in 2000 with the "Grand Prix Maria Callas" in Athens.
Gifford began his studies in Sydney, Australia, and later entered the Moscow State Conservatory "Tchaikovsky", where he studied with Professor Lev Vlasenko. Since 1997 Gifford has lived in Madrid, where he has taken advanced courses under the direction of pianist Joaquín Soriano.

Gifford has performed in the best venues in Europe, the former Soviet Union, Asia and North America. He has performed as soloist with the Orquesta de Valencia, Orquesta de Málaga, Orquesta Sinfónica de Baleares, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Petersburg Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Mozart Orchestra of Rome, National Orchestra of Ireland, Metropolitan Orchestra of Montreal, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Czech National Symphony Orchestra and all the major orchestras of Australia.
Since his arrival in Spain Duncan Gifford has developed an intense concert work, as a soloist, accompanying singers and being part of various chamber music groups. Another aspect in which he has been actively involved is contemporary music, a facet that has made him the recipient of works composed expressly for him.
