Luis Otero Herranz
He began his double bass studies at the age of nine, at the conservatory of the Community of Madrid with professors Antonio García Araque and Daniel Machado.
Between 1996 and 2002 he was a student at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía with professors Ludwig Streicher, Antonio García Araque and Rainer Zepperitz, being awarded as the most outstanding student of the Double Bass Chair in the 1998-1999 academic year and of the Chamber Music Chair for groups with piano in the 1999-2000 academic year.
He was a member of the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra from 2003-2006.
He has collaborated with the Orquesta Nacional de España, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, the Mozart Orchestra of Bologna, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, as assistant in the OBC and as principal in the Orquesta de Cadaqués and the Orquesta de Castilla y León, among others. He has taught at the Joven Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, at the Jornadas de contrabajo de Madrid and at the Proyecto Ibérico Orquestal.
Since 2007 he has been a double bass soloist with the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid.
