Music has the power to move, to bring communities together, and to serve as a means of memory and hope.
With this spirit, PluralEnsemble presents a concert dedicated to the victims of the DANA, a meteorological phenomenon that has left a profound mark on many towns and communities.
At the heart of this initiative lies Serenade, a work by composer Javier Costa Císcar, a native of Paiporta, whose artistic sensitivity and expressive richness offer a space for reflection and remembrance. Serenade is a piece of great emotional depth that, through its musical development, evokes a sense of calm and hope after the storm. It not only conveys serenity and comfort but also expresses resilience and renewal — essential values for those who have endured the consequences of the DANA.
The choice of this work takes on special significance as it will be performed by Elies Moncholí, horn player of PluralEnsemble, who was born in Paiporta and feels a deep connection with his homeland and its people.
The concert is part of PluralEnsemble’s 2025 National Tour and will also feature premieres of works commissioned by PluralEnsemble from composers Helga Arias and Alicia Díaz de la Fuente, as well as the winning work of the 2025 Young Composers Call by Francisco José Ferris Casado. The program will also include three works by British composers Benjamin Britten, Ethel Smyth, and George Benjamin, and a tribute to the Spanish composer and pianist Rosa García Ascot, the last disciple of Manuel de Falla and the only woman among the Group of Eight, a circle of avant-garde composers who represented the musical renewal parallel to the literary movement of the Generation of 1927.
