Fabián Panisello, Música vocal
“In the work of Fabián Panisello, Argentine-Spanish composer with an international career, the use of the word is integrated texturally into the very plot and structure of the music. In this way, the word gives rise to rhythmic, melodic, harmonic and syntactic structures that in turn are reflected in terms of the symbolic resonance and significance of the words themselves, creating a relationship of mutual influence and attraction.
The works collected on this CD, (…) Canciones de Silvia (2006), Gothic Songs (2014) and L’Officina della resurrezione (2014) are part of this modality and address texts in Spanish, English, Italian and ancient Hebrew that in turn they act as sources of meaning and multiple musical figures.
In an intense, complex and meticulous way, stylistic and technical elements already common in Panisello’s work, such as the structural use of patterns, derived spectra, irregular pulsation and in particular the use of the word as the structural origin of the respective works, succeed one another in the composition of these works. Thinking of his declared references in vocal terms, such as Monteverdi, Berio, Schönberg, Janacek or Kurtág, one can imagine that the specificity of his original use of the voice proposes a contribution to the future, intertwining with elements that have been present throughout the history of music, reworked with great care.
